Privacy Policy

This page describes what happens to the information you give us through tesel.net. It covers one thing, because the site does one thing: a form that puts you in touch with us.

01

Who we are

Tesel, Inc. operates tesel.net and decides how the information described here is used. Where the law calls that role a data controller, it is us.

  • Company: Tesel, Inc.
  • Site: tesel.net
  • Contact: hello@tesel.net
02

What we collect

Only what you type into the form, plus the technical records any website keeps in order to work.

What you tell us

The form has two paths and they ask for slightly different things. Nothing on either path is collected without you typing it.

PathFields
InvestingName, email address, company, and a line of context if you write one
SpecifyingName, email address, practice or firm, role, project type, and anything you write in the notes box

What the site records on its own

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. We rate-limit the form using a one-way hash of the requesting address rather than the address itself, so the site never stores it.

We do not use analytics on this site today. If we add them, they will not run until you agree, and this page will say so before they do.

03

Why we use it, and what we do with it

To reply to you. Every enquiry is read by a person before anything is sent back, which is why nothing on this site downloads automatically.

If you tick the box asking for occasional updates, we also add you to our mailing list. That box is separate from the form and is never ticked for you. Leaving it alone does not affect your enquiry, and you can unsubscribe from any message we send.

We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it to build a profile of you.

04

Who else handles it

Three companies process information on our behalf. Each is bound by a contract limiting them to what we ask for.

ProviderWhat they doWhere
VercelHosts the site and keeps server logsUnited States
ResendSends our email and stores our mailing listEuropean Union
Google AnalyticsNot in use today. If added, only after you agreeUnited States

We are a US company, so information reaches the United States. Where required, transfers out of the UK or EEA rely on the standard contractual clauses our providers offer.

05

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept while the conversation is live and for up to two years afterwards, so we can pick up where we left off. Mailing list entries are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for the short period our hosting provider retains them.

06

Your choices

You can ask us to do any of the following, and we will, wherever the law allows. Email hello@tesel.net and we will respond within 30 days.

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct anything inaccurate.
  • Ask us to delete it.
  • Ask us to stop using it for marketing, at any time.
  • Ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to a particular use.
  • Ask us to send it to you or another provider in a portable format.

We offer these to everyone rather than only to people in places that require them. We will not charge you for asking, and we will not treat you differently for having asked.

If you are in the UK or EEA and you think we have handled your information badly, you can also complain to your national data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

07

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are validated and rate-limited before anything is stored or sent. Our own logs deliberately omit names and email addresses, and access to the mailing list is limited to the people who need it.

No system is perfect, and we do not claim otherwise. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.

08

Children

This site sells a specification-channel product to professionals. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

09

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Where a change is significant we will say what it is rather than expecting you to compare versions.
